# PROS AND CONS
+ what works
- +End-to-end encryption covers titles, descriptions, locations, and attendees
- +Free tier with one calendar and no ads
- +Native apps for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux; web app and Thunderbird add-on
- +Post-quantum encryption shipped to all accounts
− watch out for
- −No CalDAV support, so third-party calendar clients cannot sync directly
- −Server code is not open source, so the backend cannot be independently audited
- −Free tier limited to one calendar; sharing and invites require a paid plan
- −No interop with standard iCalendar invitation flows beyond Tuta's own handling
# PRIVACY NOTES
Event titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, and notification contents are encrypted on Tuta's servers; the operator cannot read them. Push reminders are designed so the contents stay hidden from the device OS as well. Calendar data is protected by Tuta's hybrid scheme that includes post-quantum primitives (CRYSTALS-Kyber plus x25519). Tutao GmbH is based in Hanover and operates under German and EU law.
